Overview

Dr. habil. Levente Kovács is a researcher in the fields of farm animal behaviour, stress and production physiology. To date, he has been the principal investigator of 10 winning R&D projects. He has 12 years of experience in analysing the effects of stress caused by technology and the environment, which can be measured by non-invasive methods, and in leading research on such topics. Major research areas include  coping styles and human-animal interactions in smaller- and larger-scale farms in dairy cows; non-invasive methods of welfare and stress assessment in ruminants around parturition; hormonal, autonomic nervous system and behavioural adaptation to heat stress in dairy cows and calves; and the assessment of chronic stress and pain caused by lameness in cattle.
