Overview

Dr Zoran Marinović is primarily a cell biologist and focuses on implementing cell biology techniques in reproductive biology and toxicology. In reproductive biology, he is developing models for in vitro gametogenesis and transgenesis, thus developing novel approaches in fish conservation and biotechnology. Key aspects in this research are the in vitro culture and transplantation of spermatogonial stem cells in fish. He is also developing in vitro models and tools for toxicological studies which will contribute to the implementation of the 3R strategy in animal research.

Surrogate production of genome edited fish (NKFIH FK 142933)

The project aims to develop novel tools for environmentally safe genome editing in fish through surrogate broodstock technology. This will be achieved by genome editing of spermatogonial stem cells, and their subsequent transplantation into recipient fish.
